"The Beverly Hills Longevity Code" by Sandy Steele is a very straightforward "code," a clean healthful diet, exercise, and supplementation. It is time to take control of our own well-being. We must be proactive when it comes to our health. "My health is like money; it's mine, so I better watch, invest, and save it wisely!"
Water is an important part of your diet, or should be. The body needs 8 glasses of water a day. Water cleanses the body flushing out impurities. Ms. Steele suggests distilled water and adding a little lemon juice to it. Hot or iced tea can be counted as part of your total water intake.
"Obesity is an epidemic." We need to learn to eat slowly and savor our food. Ms. Steele offers several suggestions for eating healthier: "Use honey in place of sugar, drink red wine, eat fish twice a week, eat broccoli, eat fruits, eat nuts, and eat tomatoes."
Ms. Steele has included a list of supplements that she feels are important. She goes in detail describing each one and their benefits.
One of the topics Ms. Steele discusses is depression. Laughter is important! Watch shows that make you smile. Laugh, Laugh, Laugh! Laughter reduces depression by 85%.
Chapter 11, "Top 10 Secrets," is my favorite chapter. The 10 secrets are actually basic knowledge that we overlook. They are so simple that we scoff at them and say, "that can't be important or won't work."
"The Beverly Hills Longevity Code" by Sandy Steele is an excellent book. If you are looking for some deep-secret formula you don't want this book. This book is straight forward. The information is simple and most of it you already know you probably just aren't aware of how important it is. We all know we need 8 glasses of water, but how many of us actually drink 8 glasses or know why it's so important. We all know we need to laugh, ok at least most of us know, but we might not have realized what health benefits laughter has. I like this book. I highly recommend it to the over-50 crowd. I would also recommend it to the under 50 crowd, after all it's never too early to begin a healthier life. |

If you wanted to learn the code for living a long, healthy, prosperous lifestyle, where would you look? Why, Beverly Hills, of course, and Sandy Steele delivers a concise and enjoyable "field guide" to the secrets of the Beverly Hills lifestyle.
Steele, a mother and author and CEO of her own company, dishes up the how-to on everything from the basics of a healthy diet to using herbs and supplements to exercise to the Top 10 Secrets of the Beverly Hills Longevity Code. She offers up great question-and-answer segments called, wittily, "Honey, trust me on this...," providing further information and insight into living a longer, better life.
This is a short book, more of a primer than a real, detailed guide book, and some readers may feel there is too little information, or that topics are not delved into in detail. But this book is a great starting point for learning the basics of living the lifestyle that favors quality over quantity, and Steele does provide plenty of "food for thought" about where readers can look for further resources, including products mentioned in the book.
The information is common sense, but delivered with all the flair and high style Beverly Hills is known for. Live the code and a longer, healthier life is yours. You don't even have to be rich...or famous! |
